Upper St. Clair Township Library has an immediate opening for an outgoing and enthusiastic full time (40 hrs./week) Programs and Outreach Services Librarian. Responsibilities include a variety of professional duties including planning and overseeing programs and outreach services for adults both within the library and in the community at large. Additional work involves assisting patrons, answering reference and reader’s advisory questions, collection development assignments, digital literacy instruction, and other position specific duties as needed. The ability to work cooperatively on a team is essential and excellent organizational and communication skills are necessary. Applicants should demonstrate a vision for the future of library programs services for adults and the energy to bring that vision to reality.
A Master in Library Science or Information Science degree from an ALA accredited library school is required. Computer literacy skills, strong technical skills, IBM and MAC, and MS office proficiency (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) are required. At least three years of experience in a public library and demonstrated experience with running programs and/or event planning are required. Familiarity with the III Sierra ILS, or another library automation system, is preferred.
Flexibility is essential as evening and/or weekend programs and events will require a varying work schedule, with an average of 2 evenings a week.
